Miami, Florida

White sand beaches, crystal clear waters, and rich Cuban culture and Art Deco design, Miami is a guaranteed good time. As the backdrop for our latest collection, explore our guide on how to spend a trip to the Magic City…

WHERE TO STAY

It’s no secret we, and our moment-making community, love a Soho House location, and Miami’s Soho Beach House is one of the very best. Sitting oceanside on Miami beach, it’s situated in a 1940s tower building, with interiors influenced by the city’s Art Deco and Cuban heritage. Our favourite part? The ocean-facing rooftop bar – the perfect spot for a cocktail before you head out into the night.

If you prefer something a little more indulgent, the Faena Hotel is for you. A luxurious experience in every sense of the word, it’s known for its iconic red and gold interiors, steeped in retro glamour. There are multiple restaurants, a South American-inspired spa and butlers available on tap. We love nothing more than to while away a day by the pool (which is overlooked by Damien Hirst’s Golden Mammoth piece, naturally).

WHAT TO EAT

Miami is home to some of the best eateries in Florida, from Michelin starred fine dining to hole-in-the-wall institutions, it’s definitely not short on options.

For lunch we love the original La Sandwicherie, which has called South Beach home since 1988. A French-inspired gourmet sandwich counter, they have the best baguettes outside of France itself and a line out the front to prove it. It’s worth the wait for their now-legendary house vinaigrette only.

No trip to Miami is complete without fresh seafood – Joe’s Stone Crab is a must-visit. What started as a small beachside lunch counter (way back in 1913) is now a local institution, serving stone crabs, lobster, oysters and more in an airy high-ceilinged setting.

For dinner, try new hot spot Mandolin Aegean Bistro. Founded by husband and wife duo Ahmet Erkaya and Anastasia Koutsioukis, it’s inspired by the cooking found in the tavernas across the Greek islands and Turkish coastline which they call ‘effortless eating’.

WHAT TO DO

Make time for a morning walk down Ocean Drive, a boulevard just behind South Beach, it’s the Miami you see in the movies brought to life; think palm-tree lined walkways, candy-coloured Art Deco architecture and neon signage for miles.

One of the homes of Art Basel, Miami is known for its love of the art world and creative industries. A trip to the Design District is a must, self-described as a ‘creative neighbourhood’ it’s home to excellent galleries, including the ICA Miami and the de la Cruz Collection of contemporary art. If you’re more into retail therapy, it’s got just-about every luxury store imaginable, plus restaurants and cafés when you’re ready to refuel. An alternative option is Wyndwood Walls, an outdoor museum of murals from some of the very best street artists around.
